My Summary....Package 2 lesson 2

Hurricane Katrina had the most devastating impact on Louisiana where wetlands were damaged. Vegetation in mashes may not grow back. Vegetation along water sources disappeared. Whatever Remains became brown. Katrina affected oyster harvest by two-thirds. US increases imported oysters. Fishermen were unemployed and unsettled. Floodwater became contaminated with household chemicals and affected underground tanks. Leaking sewer and gas pipes caused further contamination. Human corpses and dead pets increased the risk of bacteria contamination which placed dredged material for a platform for plants to grow on. The Louisiana Coastal Area Ecosystem Restoration Plan has plans to rebuild barrier islands and replant lost marshes.
