2007 mock exam with corrections

Dear Mrs Menon
Facilities For The New Building

My Name is Onthatile Dlamini and I am a senior student from 4E3. Firstly, I would like to thank you for giving us, the senior students of chong boon, the opportunity to have a role in deciding which of the community. Given the purpose of the building, which is to provide facilities for all students, I suggest that a multi-media resource centre will be a better choice.

I suggest the multi-media resource centre because it achieves the aims of the new building. It offers IT training for young and old. This means that anyone, despite their age, can enjoy the wonders of IT. Due to the rise in technology, this can be of great benefit to students who do not have computers or internet at home and to the old who want to learn more about IT. It also offers a digital resource library and cyber café from which members of the community can utilize instead of travelling to the library. On top of that, Teachers and students can do their research in the library while gulping down food from the cyber café.

I have looked through the other two options of building a theatre and concert hall and a multi-purpose spots hall including an indoor swimming pool. These options are great ideas. Performances by the students can be held at the theatre which the community can come watch. The sports hall can be used by members of the community as well as the students which will save travelling time to the stadium. However, they are more beneficial to the students and they do not cater to the needs of everyone in the community such as the old.

The multi-media resource centre will encourage links between the school and the local community. Through interaction between the members of the community and the students, they will begin to share their skills and interests. The building will be equipped with state of the arts facilities. There will be computers on the first level, where the trainers will be able to conduct their trainings without disturbing the people in the library. The library and the café will be located on the second storey so that people can read while relaxing to warm cup of tea.

I would like to thank you once again for the great opportunity given. I will be looking forward to your response.

Yours sincerely
